Before

Overview
Pacific Mattress makes two foam mattresses by hand in Los Angeles. I designed the original storefront; this 2026 refresh turns the whole page into one night's sleep.
Problem
The 2016 original was a white storefront with a dim bedroom photo and teal buttons, the same template most bed-in-a-box brands shipped. The product is sleep, so the page needed a mood you could feel before reading a word.
Design system
A single background gradient runs from midnight indigo through periwinkle and lavender to a peach sunrise. Instrument Serif with italics for display, DM Sans for body, seafoam as the accent. Everything is centered and soft: pills, circles, a crescent moon.
- Starfield hero with a crescent moon and the bedroom set in a wide pill
- Both feels presented as glowing circular “moons” with a firmness dot scale
- Foam layers called out around a single circle instead of a spec table
- The 100-night trial sits on a rising sun at the bottom of the page
Outcome
Desktop 1440 and mobile 390 in Figma. Part of a four-site legacy refresh, and the one where the scroll itself carries the concept.
